Northback announces Angela Beattie as recipient of Coal Association of Canada’s 2024 Award of Distinction

This award recognizes her exceptional leadership, contributions to the coal industry and unwavering dedication to responsible resource development.

Angela Beattie has been a trailblazer in Canada’s mining sector, with over two decades of experience, including a specialization in coal mining projects and provincial regulations since 2002. She earned her Bachelor of Geological (Geo-environmental) Engineering from Queen’s University and later obtained a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering, with a geotechnical specialty. Angela’s expertise and leadership have made her a standout in the industry, particularly through her efforts in fostering safety, accountability and responsible resource development in mining operations.

Angela’s work includes the development of a comprehensive change management program focused on pit design safety and the promotion of best practices through her participation on Alberta’s Mining Expert Panel and numerous other technical working groups.

Beyond her professional achievements, Angela is a dedicated mentor and advocate for the next generation of mining professionals. She has created opportunities for young engineers, fostering a culture of inclusion and growth within Northback and the industry at large. Her leadership extends to public involvement, where she actively volunteers with local organizations.
