Northback completes closing arguments at Alberta Energy Regulator’s coal exploration drilling program hearing
Northback now awaits the final decision of the AER
CALGARY, AB – March 4, 2025 – Northback reaffirmed to the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) today that our proposed exploratory drilling program for the Grassy Mountain Steelmaking Coal project will have minimal impact on the environment, not compromise public safety and will comply with all regulations.
The project presents a rare opportunity to reclaim previously mined land and produce metallurgical coal under strict regulatory frameworks. This program will provide critical data for a potential future mine, which will support economic growth and improve local livelihoods.
This project has received overwhelming support from Crowsnest Pass residents, and that support was publicly endorsed in a Vote of Electors.
